Pumpkin waste plea from Somerset Waste Partnership
7:00pm Friday 11th October 2013 in News
STAY green at Hallowe’en – that’s the message from the Somerset Waste Partnership, which is urging people not to waste food from their scary pumpkin displays, but create tasty treats.
The advice is part of Somerset’s Green Routine waste prevention scheme, and October’s ‘tasty treats’ campaign could bring big savings.
The SWP says the average family throws away food worth £13 a week, adding to Somerset’s landfill bill.
Families are invited to try the Love Food Hate Waste challenge to see what they waste and save cash, yet eat well.
