7:00pm Wednesday 16th October 2013 in News
A POPULAR tearoom in Bishops Lydeard won the Somerset Life Food and Drink Award for Best Tea Room/Coffee Shop in Somerset.
Daisy Cottage Tea Rooms won the award, presented at a ceremony by Emma Britton of BBC Somerset.
David and son Ben Marker run the tea room.
David’s wife, Diana, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to all our faithful customers who voted us the Best Tearoom/Coffee Shop in Somerset and congratulations to all the finalists.
“We were blown away to win our award – for us it was the icing on the cake.
“We feel so passionate about what we do and when we set up the tearooms we wanted it to be everything we love to find in a tearoom and more – and our award means going that extra mile does pay off.”
Diana said winning the award felt like winning the lottery.
She added: “Dave and Ben were busy working so I and my daughter, Poppy, went along but we never thought we would return with the award.
“It’s a huge achievement in 17 months after a lot of dedication and hard work.”
The tearooms will be closed from Monday, October 21, until Tuesday, October 29, while the owners take a break.
