Temporary traffic lights in Station Road, Taunton, for three weeks
MOTORISTS face delays on Station Road, Taunton, for three weeks from Monday during work on a new road.
Temporary traffic lights will be installed as drainage work is carried out around the disused bridge.
The work is associated with the £21.8million Northern Inner Distributor Road from the junction of Staplegrove Road and Chip Lane to Priory Avenue currently under construction.
The bridge will eventually be demolished to make way for a new bridge as part of the road, which is seen as vital in opening up access to future development at Firepool.
A Somerset County Council spokesman said: “Essential drainage works associated with the NIDR will be starting in Station Road on Monday, requiring temporary traffic lights for a three-week period.
“This has been planned to minimise any clash with Wessex Water’s long-running Operation Clean and Clear, and is also scheduled to finish before the busy Christmas shopping period.”
