Storm warning for Somerset
WEATHER experts have issued a warning over the possibility a storm could hit Somerset over the weekend or at the start of next week.
Strong winds and heavy rain are forecast in the county, prompting the Met Office to issue an amber alert for wind in several parts of the South-West region.
Officials have warned people to be prepared for the risk of falling trees as well as damage to buildings and other structures caused by strong winds.
It is not clear exactly when the storm is expected to hit Somerset.
A Met Office spokesman said: "A strong, high-level jet is expected to engage warm low level air to give rise to a rapidly moving low pressure system later on Sunday.
"There is the potential for gusts of over 80 mph, especially on exposed coasts."
