THE road at Monkton Heathfield remains closed while emergency services examine the scene but is expected to reopen this afternoon.
POLICE have closed the road near to the scene of the collision.
POLICE now say two vehicles were involved in the fatal crash.
The A38 is still closed in both directions.
A diversion route has been set up via the Creech Castle to Obridge and then the A3259 through Priorswood, or alternatively, drivers can use the M5.
A MAN died in a road traffic collision in Monkton Heathfield this morning, Monday, October 28.
Police were called to the single vehicle crash on the A38 at 10.10am
A police spokeswoman said two other people trapped in the vehicle are being cut free by firefighters.
The road is currently closed in both directions.
