HOME-Start West Somerset is celebrating after receiving a cheque for £1,000 from the Rotary Club of Minehead and the Quantocks.

The cheque was in recognition for the fundraising that members of the Minehead Cycling Club did earlier this year.

The team, led by Simon Rossiter, took part in the Tour of Wessex, cycling more than 335 miles in three days.

The team, led by Simon Rossiter and William Wake, were joined by various members throughout and the team rode over 1,000 miles in the three days.

At the end of the event they had raised more than £800 and the Rotary Club has rounded up the amount to £1,000.

Home-Start manager Ali Sanderson said: “We are very grateful to the team and the Rotary Club for their generous support.”

Simon would like to thank all who sponsored the ride, which started out as a sibling rivalry after his brothers and sisters entered him into the event as a 40th birthday present.
