MONTHS of hard work and planning paid off for the Friends of Dunster First School at their annual Advent Fair.

It was a tremendous success raising over £3200 for new ICT equipment for the school.

In the two weeks leading up the fair, year four pupils ran a number of games and on the morning of the fair a massive toy sale was held in the school.

Toys, puzzles and books were all sold raising £250.

All sorts of stalls and games including a silent auction were enjoyed by pupils, parents and members of the community at the fair on Friday November 29.

Father Christmas was even there in his grotto and a wintery take on the coconut shy, involving throwing ‘snowballs’ at members of staff was enjoyed.

Christmas music from local bands and choirs meant everyone was in the festive mood.

Head teacher Peter Hoyland said: “I would like to thank everyone in our school community who helped with or supported this year’s Advent Fair.

“Parents and carers were so kind with donations and local businesses were incredibly generous.

“This year’s fair was another wonderful event and we are obviously delighted with the amount of money that the Friends of Dunster First School has managed to raise.
