Somerset County Gazette: Petrol station bid at Chelston Petrol station bid at Chelston

A PETROL station could be built at the Westpark 26 business estate on the edge of Wellington. Forelle Estates has lodged a planning application to build the station next to the Skylark Inn.

At present, Wellington only has two petrol stations – the Texaco site opposite Court Fields School and the Shell station at Longforth Road.

Wellington desperately needs some decent filling stations - the traffic congestion in the town centre has practically killed it - but I wouldn't want the independant fuel station at Chelston to suffer as a result of this new one........

Didn't there used to be 2 petrol stations at Chelston? A Texaco and an Esso? There was also the filling station by Sheppy's.

Perhaps this fillinf station will add competition and in turn mean the local stations up their game.

There is also hundreds of relatively new homes and more businesses/visitors who need to fill up too.

I do wonder if in 50yrs time Wellington, Taunton and Bridgwater will be connected. Wellington is effectively now out to Chelston. Taunton is going to expand west from Comeytrowe and there will be development up to Walford Cross one day. Then there is N Petherton which is pretty much joined up to Bridgwater now.

Good idea for Wellington, should give the town healthy competition and hopefully lower the prices of fuel.
