TEAMWORK makes the dream work at one Mid Devon firm after staff there spent a day brewing their own beer – all in the name of team-building.

Staff at award-winning design firm The Oxygen Agency worked together to brew and name their own unique beer at a Mid Devon microbrewery.

Their designers, PR people and copywriters found themselves ‘mashing in’ the barley in a huge copper to begin the brewing process before engaging in friendly competition in a beer-based pub quiz in the brewery’s authentic pub-like tap room, complete with wood panelling, at the Mas-ter’s Brewery in Greenham, near Wel-lington.

Oxygen boss Steve Lodge said: “It was great the way everyone got involved in brewing a pale ale from scatch.

“Our staff found the whole day very interesting and threw around possibilities for extra ingredients to add flavour.”

Microbrewer Richard Masters said: “We love giving local people a true experience of the brewing process in the brewhouse.

“Everything we do here is local, from sourcing our grain and hops to the bar and floor of our on-site brewpub, ‘The Wood-yard’, all of which came out of regional pubs and houses.”

The Oxygen team stayed to help separate the brew liquor from the mash, add hops and transfer the results to the fermenter.

They have named the resulting beer ‘OPA’ or ‘Oxygen Pale Ale’.
