DRIVERS are being warned not to drive through flood water after a woman motorist had to be rescued.

Firefighters were called to the A361 at Burrowbridge at 11.10 yesterday (Wednesday, January 15) following reports of a driver stuck in flood water.

Two firefighters waded through the water to rescue the woman driver and carry her to safety.

A spokesman said: "The driver had driven past numerous road closure signs.

"Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service would like to again state to drivers to please refrain from driving through flood water for their own safety."
