A PASTOR who travelled to the Philippines to help in the clear-up following Typhoon Haiyan is to visit Tiverton to give a talk about fundraising and future plans.
Peter Jenkins is giving a talk at King Street Chapel on Saturday, January 25, starting at 6.30pm.
Mr Jenkins, 68, missions director for Victory Church in Wales, travelled to Tacloban, one of the worst affected areas, after hearing friends were among the more than 6,000 people who died in the disaster.
He is aiming to raise £10,000 to build a church in the Philippines.
Pizza King is giving pizza for the talk, Ali Baba’s is providing its popular potato surprises and home-made soup will be available. Entry is free and donations for the food will go to the Philippines appeal.
Star newspaper advertising sales manager Sharon Mitchell last month raised £1,323 through a charity dinner hosted by the Golden Panda in Tiverton and donations from local church members.
