LOCAL ‘rock stars’ are being sought to take part in Hospiscare’s Rock Solid Race in March.

Taking place at Escot Park, teams competing in the 5k dash and 10k rock solid race will push themselves to the limit as they immerse themselves in mud, sweat and team work to get to the finish line.

Hospiscare is looking for anyone who has already signed up or is thinking about taking on the fun but tough challenge to join its two teams of supporters on the day to raise money for the charity.

Hospiscare Events Fundraiser Celia Wilkinson said: “Rock Solid Race has become an important fixture on the OCR calendar despite only being in its second year.

“It’s awesome to have such an exciting local event and we’re looking for people to register and fundraise for Hospiscare.”

Sixty-nine people took part in the Rock Solid Race for Hospiscare in 2013, raising more than £3,000 to help the charity to continue to provide high-quality care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses in Exeter, mid and east Devon.

Beginning at 8am on Saturday, March 15, the Rock Solid competitors will head out over the 1,200-acre playground of Escot Park, across a few well-placed hills and extreme levels of mud to complete the obstacle course at the event that is described as ‘a cut above’.

Showers, food and drink, live music and the Six Nations Rugby will be available to enjoy after the challenge.
