Police in Plymouth are appealing for witnesses to a road rage incident on Tuesday 21 January.

At around 9.15am a small, black hatchback stopped near a red Transit van at the mini roundabout leading to Vauxhall Street and Bretonside.

The driver of the black car got out and became verbally abusive to the van driver, kicked the van repeatedly and threw something at it before making off in the direction of the Barbican.

After the first incident, the van driver went into the city centre before parking at the car wash on Billacombe Road, Plymstock at 9.30am.

The driver of the black car appeared again, this time with another man. He threatened the van driver with a metal weapon and then attacked the rear of the van causing extensive damage.

Both men made off on foot and headed towards Chelson Meadow.

The car driver is described as a white, 5ft 8ins, slim build, mid 30s with short, spiky hair and a local accent. He was wearing a dark hooded body warmer and blue jeans.

A police spokesperson said: “We believe there were several people who may have witnessed the incident at the mini roundabout as traffic was heavy at the time.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the black car and the two men that morning.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting EK/14/53, or alternatively Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
