PHOTOGRAPHS of local buildings and people from the past in Dulverton are wanted for plans to celebrate the fact that the town has been thriving for many years.

At Dulverton Heritage Centre, committee members and other volunteers are currently working up plans for the celebration.

There will be a display of photographs from the past merging across the years to photos of the present day shops and businesses, hopefully showing their staff too.

Jan Ross, secretary of the centre said: “We have a good selection of photos and shops and businesses, often with staff standing outside the shop.

“We are now hoping to add to our collection with photos taken this year, showing in some cases few changes, but in other cases considerable differences.”

They are encouraging anyone with photos of local buildings used in the past as shops and businesses, plus people employed in the past, such as for local builders and tailors to bring copies in.

Jan can be contacted on 01398-323818 or janaross2003@yahoo.co.uk.

You can also contact the centre manager Sue Cottrell, on 07969-243887.

The Centre is holding a drop in session on Tuesday February 18, 2.30pm to 4.30pm and 6.30 to 8.30pm for anyone wanting to bring along their photos which will be scanned immediately at the sessions.
