Taunton teenager launches Helping Paul project after inspiring trip to Ghana
A TEENAGER from Taunton is setting up a project to help disadvantaged children in Africa.
Rosie Watts, 19, was inspired to launch ‘Helping Paul’ after a trip to Ghana last summer volunteering in the orphanages and schools.
It is named after a child named Paul she met at an orphanage in Kumasi and Rosie plans to visit again this summer to get the project off the ground.
She said: “One thing that really stood out to me from my visit was the undeveloped care for children with special needs.
“I have created a website in order to raise awareness of these conditions and to raise money in order to develop the care they can get.”
She added: “Hopefully we can increase the carers’ knowledge of their conditions and the stimulation children need. Getting equipment for them and the facilities they need can help their development.”
