Investigation underway after cyclist dies in Taunton

AN Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "We were called to an incident in which a cyclist was reported to have fallen from his bike in Winckworth Way in Taunton yesterday (Wednesday) at about 12.45pm.

"The man, thought to be in his 50s, was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital with head injuries but died later.

"We are investigating the circumstances of the incident on behalf of the coroner."

POST mortem tests will establish the cause of the man's death.

If he died of natural causes, an inquest will not be held.

A MAN was pronounced dead after he fell from his bicycle in Taunton yesterday (February 12).

The West Somerset Coroner Michael Rose has been informed of the incident.

Post mortem tests are being carried out to establish whether an inquest needs to be held.

This sounds very unfortunate, especially as this is a dedicated traffic free cycleway which has just been resurfaced. Prior to resurfacing there were large potholes every few feet.
