A GROUP has launched to give youngsters a chance to get involved in girlguiding.

1st North Curry Rainbows aims to offer girls aged five to seven opportunities to further their learning through fun activities and games.

They meet for an hour on Tuesdays at the pavilion, using the motto Look, Learn, Love and Life.

Leader Gill Slocombe, a lifelong member of Girlguiding with over 30 years’ experience, started the group with the aim of giving every young girl in the area a chance to make new friends and enjoy girl-led adventures.

She said: “They’e so eager to learn and try new things, and they clearly enjoy each other's company and just being themselves.

“I hope more girls will join us and benefit from the great opportunities open to Rainbows.”

In the first two weeks members Hattie, Grace, Darcey and Florrie have learnt about the science behind bubbles, made rainbow snakes and found out about Olivia, the group mascot who shares in their adventures.
