A CHARITY event will be held to raise the final £1,400 for a wheelchair for a brave youngster with a rare and devastating muscle-wasting condition.
Elise Kemp, eight, of Creech St Michael, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy when she was just 13 months old.
The disease strips away mobility from the head, neck, arm and hand, and reduces the ability to walk, crawl and even swallow, leaving Elise wheelchair-dependent.
Sitting upright for longer than 20 minutes causes excruciating pain, so she needs a more advanced model.
Their next charity event is an evening’s group reading with medium June Pinney on March 7 at Monkton Village hall in Taunton.
It starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £7.50 with refreshments available.
