SIX hardy fundraisers from a riding school which aids the development of disabled people are preparing for their biggest challenge yet.

Staff and supporters of the Conquest Equestrian Centre at Norton Fitzwarren will tackle the Three Peaks Challenge... and attempt to do it in 24 hours.

The task involves climbing the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales.

David Hardy, centre treasurer, said: “We are doing this to raise funds for ourselves. We are heavily reliant on charitable donations and this is one of the events happening to raise funds and awareness for the centre.

“We currently have nearly 180 riders per week with 16 horses – we’re hoping to purchase more – and have a volunteer force of nearly 80.

“We have also recently started a carriage driving group and this will grow over the next few months.”

The team dedicated to the fundraiser on May 29 is David, Jessica Dixon, Lois Kerrison, Kate Heals, James Wilson and John Wilkinson.
