THE Taunton Association of Performing Arts has donated £500 to the community group re-opening the Brewhouse Theatre.
Somerset Opera also turned up for the cheque presentation to Taunton Theatre Association at the Orchard Shopping Centre in Taunton to sing a tune from their upcoming show of HMS Pinafore.
The singers, accompanied by musical director Chris Ball, were in fine voice and shoppers were delighted with the show.
Taunton Theatre Association say all the equipment in the 352-seater venue has now been inspected and either cleaned, repaired or replaced.
Chair Val Hammond added: “We want to create a welcoming environment where people can meet and find like-minded folk. We will work with a small management team and large network of volunteers supporting all aspects of the theatre's work.”
