CANNY shoppers love a bargain, especially when it comes to the cost of car parking.

West Somerset Council is relaunching its Shopper Permit Scheme which offers a permit for £30 a year.

It allows shoppers and visitors to park for a maximum of two hours in the district’s most popular car parks.

The permit is valid for one vehicle and runs from April 1 to March 31.

It is valid in: Warren Road Upper, Alexandra Road, Clanville and Quay West car parks in Minehead, Central in Porlock, Dunster Steep (overflow only) in Dunster, Anchor Street and West Pier in Watchet and Killick Way in Williton.

Cllr Karen Mills said: “The permits proved popular when they were introduced last year and they really are a bargain.

“The permit cost works out at just under 60p a week – that’s about the same as a packet of crisps.”

Application forms for a permit are available by visiting the council’s website and can be returned by post, with the appropriate payment to: West Somerset Council, West Somerset House, Killick Way, Williton, Somerset, TA4 4QA.

Completed forms can also be taken to the council offices at 1- 3 Summerland Road, Minehead or West Somerset House to pay in person.
