A CHARITY in Minehead which supports members of the community who are homeless and have drug and alcohol issues encouraged its service users to develop their creative writing skills.
The Hope Centre asked users to complete the third verse of a poem about homelessness written by Clara Lawrie.
The winner of the competition, Aaron, received a £10 groceries voucher.
Clara Lawrie and Clare Walsh, a trustee of the Minehead Hope Centre judged the competition and awarded a second voucher to another service user Andy.
They said his poem stood out because it epitomised the meaning of hope and some of the challenges faces by those who are homeless.
The Hope Centre supports members of the Minehead Community who are homeless, have problems with drug and alcohol and are lonely or disadvantaged.
They gather in a relaxing meeting place where you can get support and encouragement.
There is no charge and you will be offered a free hot meal and drink.
Sessions take place every Monday from 11am-2pm and Tuesday from 10.30am-2pm at the Baptist Church Hall, Parks Lane, Minehead.
