OVER 50 year nine students at West Somerset College have been involved in painting a mural for the main College Hall.

Artist in residence Gary Cedeira was tasked with leading the project depicting a striking landscape of Exmoor, inspired by David Hockney’s use of colour and pattern.

Gary went onto Exmoor and took a series of photographs choosing one to form the basis of the mural.

The mural is made up of 40 2ftx2ft boards.

Gary said: “Students also made journeys into the landscape and produced exciting and dynamic artwork in their sketchbooks.

“The project aims to celebrate the beauty of our environment and encourage the exploration of it.”

Exmoor National Park celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and the mural has already featured in some of its publicity.
