IT’S BEEN a busy year for Lucy Gowar since being shortlisted for the County Gazette’s Local Business Accelerator award last year.

She has seen her business, Sweet Cicely grow and grow thanks to the huge trend towards the demand for British flowers.

Since the BBC programme ‘The Great British Garden Revival”, which showcased British flower growers, Lucy has had an enormous volume of requests from other florists.

Some as far away as Bath asking her to supply flowers this year. Her wedding bookings have also increased by 85%.

Lucy said: “I’ve outgrown my kitchen table now so I’m opening the new premises at the Flower Shed.

“I’ve renovated the building and as well as my freshly picked flowers and plants, you can also fund a useful range of florist supplies.

“I want everyone to be able to find everything the need to grow their own British flowers or to buy them.”

Lucy has also turned half the space into a workshop where she will be running demonstrations on growing and arranging techniques.

The Flower Shed opens this Saturday (March 15) from 10am-3.30pm, just in time for Mother’s Day.

The Flower Shed is located at Deans Cross near Lydeard St. Lawrence, TA4 3QN.

"There's tea or coffee and cake as well, so please do come along," Lucy added.
