MUM and daughter Ruth and Katy Preece are running the London Marathon on Sunday, April 13, to improve healthcare in Zanzibar.
The sponsorship they raise will go towards renovating and managing two district hospitals through Health Improvement Project Zanzibar, a charity founded by consultant Ru MacDonagh, of Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, where Ruth is an administrator.
Ruth, who has already completed the race twice, although she pulled out last year due to injury, said: “Knowing every penny I raise will go a long way to improving healthcare on this island really has kept me motivated.”
Katy, 19, a former student at King’s College, Taunton, who is now at Loughborough University, said: “I’ve been training hard and having previously completed all three Ten Tors Challenges, I’ve enjoyed taking on this new challenge and hope to raise as much as possible for HIPZ.”
