Flood car sold on eBay for over £100,000

Somerset County Gazette: Hubert with his car once the waters receded. Hubert with his car once the waters receded.

THE flood car has sold for an incredible £101,100.

USED car for sale, 110,000 miles on the clock, used to be a good runner...but unlikely to ever start again.

A Seat Toledo which was submerged under flood water on the Somerset Levels for almost three months is being auctioned on eBay - and it's so far attracted a bid of £35,300.

There's still time to put in an offer if you want a bit of memorabilia of the county's worst flooding in living memory - bidding ends at 8.10pm today (March 20).

Hubert Zajaczkowski, 21, abandoned the car, which he'd bought for £600, on a road near Muchelney when the water started to rise on Christmas Eve.

He went back last week once the flood receded to reclaim the 15-year-old 1.8 salon, which will never be roadworthy again.

Hubert will donate the prodit from the sale to a cahrity helping flood victims on the Levels.

Watch this site to see how much his car eventually fetches.

Its great that Hubert would donate the money, but what person in their right mind would pay that for a car that will never run, may as well buy a jag, and leave it in the garage.

As long as the end result is that £100.000 ends up in the hands of the Flood Relief Fund, if this is "a Scam for Publicity ' whoever is behind it.
It is in Very Bad Taste !! The Residents who have had their Lives Ruined since Christmas, by this Traumatic Experience, some will never get over it, the Elderly, who put their Trust in the Environment Agency, to Protect their Homes. With the Fear that the Same May well occur next Autumn, with the Measures that are being Talk Talked about, to remedy the situation, it leaves me very uncertain that the E Agency are the right Body to deal with the Aftermath and Future requirements, of our Needs to be Dry and Safe in our Homes.
I Trust Them Not !!!!! to Deliver what is needed ??????

Who ever the Mercury Reporter or Typographer,(Oops 's showing One's age) who put this Article together, needs to do a spot of Proof reading, I must admit as an amateur, my predictive text comes into my Posts, when late at night, and not rechecking b4 posting. It's all on Computer now a days !!
But for a Mercury Report, that I have Spotted a Minimum of 3 Errors, at least in this Short piece. Quite, really poor Journalism !!!
