THE efforts of staff, parents and children have helped St James’ Church School Nursery gain an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report in all areas.

Inspectors concluded that staff “provide an exceptional educational programme, are skilful in involving parents and have an expert knowledge of the way children learn”.

Their excellent support allows the 62 children to make “outstanding progress” in the key areas of their development.

Staff are sensitive to children’s needs and encourage independent activity and mathe-matical development where appropriate.

The environment is “exciting and highly motivating” and children’s behaviour is “exemplary” due to excellent systems that help them understand their high expectations.

The inspectors said: “Children develop an outstanding awareness of keeping themselves safe and healthy.”

They added: “Staff meet children’s learning and welfare exceptionally well because of the outstanding partnerships with parents and external agencies.”

Heather Cunningham, head teacher at St James’ Church School, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been given such a high accolade.

“The nursery, as part of St James’ Church School, has worked tirelessly to ensure the provision is second to none.

“Nursery manager, Sue Lucas, along with the rest of her team are truly dedicated to ensuring our children get a wonderful, safe and caring environment.”
