A FUNDRAISER from Wellington coined in more than £1,000 for Partkinson’s UK as she put her fitness levels to the test.

Sue Walters, who suffers from the disease, took part in a one-hour continuous workout at Wellington Sports Centre earlier this month.

The 67-year-old said: “I am delighted to have completed my challenge for Parkinson’s UK. I have been impressed by the amount of people that have sponsored me.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their donations and for helping me to raise awareness of Parkinson’s. I’d also like to thank the staff at the centre for helping me turn my fundraising idea for Parkinson’s UK into a reality.”

As reported in the County Gazette ahead of her challenge, Sue has suffered from Parkinson’s for six years.

Her workout included four seated rows totalling 2,000 metres, two treadmill runs with a distance of one mile and two exercise bike rides for three miles.

Sue said: “I find that regular exercise helps me cope with my Parkinson’s and gives me a focus in life but exercising is certainly not always easy for me.

“I hope that the funds I have raised will make a real difference in the search for a cure.”
