NEARLY 400 children from 15 schools across Somerset took part in a spectacular performance of Oliver! at Wellington School.
Each school auditioned an Oliver and an Artful Dodger, with judges picking the lead parts after The Voice-style blind auditions.
Samuel Jones from Parkfield School was a cheeky Dodger, while Andrew Power from Wellesley Park was a soulful Oliver.
Tom Harris, from Wellington School, gave an outstandingly sleazy performance as Fagin.
Ros Shaw, from Wellington School, masterminded the production, which was watched by an audience of more than 800.
She said: “It was tremendously exciting to have such an array of fantastic singers from so many schools coming along – there is some serious talent around and we feel privileged to have been able to showcase some of it last week.
“My thanks must go to all the primary music teachers who have worked to hard with their children to make this happen.”
The schools taking part were: Nether Stowey, Parkfield, Ruishton, Holy Trinity, The Castle, Cheddon Fitzpaine, Curry Mallet, Kingston St Mary, North Town, Sampford Arundel, Staplegrove, Thurlbear, Wellesley Park, St Peter’s Prep and Wellington Junior.
