STAFF and pupils at Curry Mallet Primary School are jumping for joy after its excellent Ofsted report.

The inspection assessed the school on the achievement of its pupils, the quality of teaching, the behaviour and safety of pupils and its leadership and management; all of which were judged to be 'outstanding' by the governing body.

Head teacher Wendy Devereux said: “All those associated with Curry Mallet Primary School are very proud of achieving 'outstanding' in our recent Ofsted inspection.

“We are a small inclusive school and provide a unique learning environment where children can develop their skills to be lifelong learners.”

Inspectors praised a number of other areas within the school, stating “the school is very well led by the head teacher”, “teaching has been very effective in motivating and engaging pupils” and that it is “very much an inclusive school where there is determination for all pupils to achieve well.”

Somerset County Council's cabinet member responsible for schools, Cllr Frances Nicholson, said: “I am delighted by Ofsted's across-the-board recognition of this outstanding school that so clearly serves its children well so that they can achieve their potential.”
