MORE than £1,500 was donated to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) appeal to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital last week.
Cash for the County Gazette-backed project included £41.24 from the collection box at the Esso Garage, Wellington Road, Taunton; £25 in 5p coins from Mrs Manning; £110.85, including £10.85 in 5p coins from Mrs A. Sizer, of Minehead; £120 from Donald Arscott, of Honiton, following a Prostate Cancer Reunion dinner; £600 from Hans and Gwen Wilson, Dave and Maxine Gibbons and friends, who held a fundraising evening; £500 from Mandy Parsons, of Wellington, whose family, friends and workmates in lieu of presents for her 50th birthday; and £189.55 including £165 in 5ps from the Beacon Centre.
The total raised for SURE since it linked up with the Gazette now stands at £407,195.48.
