BLUNDELL’S School will be giving its annual choral and orchestral concert on Thursday, April 24.
The augmented school choir will be joined by professional soloists and an orchestra for a programme including Wagner’s Overture Rienzi and Liszt’s Piano Concerto No 2, played by Marianna Katerelou, one of Blundell’s gifted piano teachers.
The choral works will include Gounod’s Mass for St Cecilia and the epic final choral section of Mahler’s Symphony No 2, in which there will be two soloists – Siona Stockel, a local girl and Old Blundellian who studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Royal Academy of Music, and Emma Nelson, who is in the lower sixth.
