A GROUP of hardy dog owners from Devon braved the rain to attend Margaret Green Animal Rescue’s sponsored dog walk on Sunday.

The walk was very well attended despite the downpours. The charity was delighted to see so many people taking part and were particularly pleased to see lots of dogs who had been happily rehomed from their Wingletang Centre, near Tavistock.

Almost all of the current resident dogs at Wingletang also took part, and were walked by staff and volunteers. Niki Ging, who manages the centre with her husband Alan said ‘despite the weather, the dogs really enjoyed the walk. They had enough energy to eat their dinner and then they all went straight to bed!’ There were much needed hot drinks ready and waiting for the returning walkers, who were also spoilt for choice as supporters had donated tables full of homemade cakes and biscuits.

Niki said ‘thank you to everyone who came for the walk, it was great to see so many people getting involved and supporting us. So far, over £900 has been raised for the charity but we still have lots of sponsorship money to collect’.
