WHEN future generations look back at Minehead in hundreds of years to come, they’re sure to find out all about school life in 2014.

Pupils at Minehead First School were picked to bury a time school capsule at the Macarthy & Stone Beechfield Court retirement development at The Parks, in Minehead.

Each house group selected one item to go in the capsule including: photographs of the pupils and staff from the First School and Seashells Nursery, a copy of the house songs, a video tour of the school, a selection of British coins currently in use and ‘A day in the life of Minehead First School’ written by year one pupil Ruben Watts.

James Geen, head teacher at Minehead First School said: “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the project and the whole school really got involved to make sure their memories were included for future generations to find.

“Not only had the project been fun and creative, it was also educational for the children, too.”

Jacqui Meenan, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, added: “We are delighted with all the hard work shown by the pupils to ensure their school will be remembered exactly how they are experiencing it today.

“The aim of the project was to create a snapshot in time for 2014 and the children came up with some really creative and inventive ideas.”

The house captain and vice captain of each house gathered last Friday to help bury the capsule.
