THEY’RE trained to cope with the worst weather at sea, and the Minehead lifeboat crew are just as well prepared for their Bank Holiday fundraiser – a hog roast with live jazz on Saturday, May 24.

And Minehead RNLI chairman Bryan Stoner said even if there’s a classic bank holiday downpour, the event won’t be affected.

He said: “We realised last year that if we move the boats outside the lifeboat house presents us with a great venue for providing food and entertainment.

“We ran two events in the boathouse last summer and people really enjoyed them, so we’re hoping for an even bigger attendance on May 24.”

In addition to the hog roast there will be live jazz from the Darktown Strutters, and a real ale and Somerset cider bar.

Admission is free and all profits will be going to RNLI funds.
