Road users are advised that the area around Junctions 29 and 31 of the M5 is expected to be especially busy during this year’s Devon County Show at Westpoint.

This year the show will run over the bank holiday weekend from Thursday, 22 May to Saturday, 24 May and could attract between 100,000 visitors over the three days.

Drivers are advised that the A30 east and west of Exeter and A38 south of Exeter could also all be particularly busy during this period.

Those travelling in the area should pay particular attention to the following: • Approach to Junction 30 of the M5 could be particularly busy between 8am and 10.30am on Thursday and Friday, when visitors to the show could be using the motorway at the same time as commuter traffic.

• Friday evening could also be exceptionally busy in this area as visitors leaving the show combine with commuter traffic and holiday traffic on the M5.

• Saturday, May 24 is expected to attract the highest number of visitors and the approach from the south to junction 29 could also become particularly busy as traffic could combine with holiday traffic leaving the region.

• Essential maintenance work is taking place on Harcombe Bridge near Chudleigh on the A38 and a contraflow and 40mph temporary speed will be in place, however two lanes will still be running in both directions.

The Highways Agency is advising road users to plan their travel routes in advance, and to keep up-to-date with the latest road conditions. Yellow signs will advise show visitors which route to take on the approaches to the show.
