A BIG cheque for a big sum has been gratefully received by Musgrove Park Hospital’s Beacon Centre for cancer patients thanks to the generosity of a Taunton law firm.

Employees at Porter Dodson raised £1,200 for their nominated charity through monthly fundraisers including dress-down days and sponsored cycles.

The money raised will pay for comfort bags for head and neck radiotherapy and chemotherapy patients, with items such as skincare products, nutritional and oral hygiene aids. They are tailored for each patient.

Beacon Centre manager Babette Fuller said: “I would like to thank everyone in the Taunton office for their generosity in supporting the Beacon Centre this past year.

"The amount raised will help make a difference to those undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy regimes in the centre."

Julia Perrins, of Porter Dodson, said: “The Beacon Centre has been a ‘beacon of hope’ in so many ways.

“Porter Dodson has experienced three of its number go through cancer treatment in the last three years and is particularly grateful to the Beacon Centre staff who made the terrible experience more bearable for these friends and colleagues.”
