CHILDREN at Blackbrook Primary School in Taunton welcomed a special visitor as they celebrated the completion of an art project.

The County Gazette has reported how artist Bozena Nesporova has been working with pupils to create a bench sculpture at the front of the school.

The project began in January with children creating drawings representing their school which they wanted to see on the sculpture.

Pupils then worked with Bozena in March to build the sculpture from rubble and cement.

Bozena returned to Blackbrook in May to work with the children to complete the design based on the school logo and grounds.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Taunton, Dave and Renee Durdan, joined Bozena, staff and students for the official unveiling of the completed sculpture.

The school has thanked parents, carers, governors and friends of the school for giving up their time to work with the children and for donating materials, as well as Viridor, Oakleaf Carpentry and Building and MTM Tiles.

The school also thanked Bozena and the pupils for bringing the project to fruition.
