THERE’S not much longer to wait before dragons are unleashed on our streets.

Excitement is building as Taunton, Wellington, Wiveliscombe and villages prepare to host 30 models as part of the Taunton Deane Dragon Trail.

Organisers have now et a provisional date for the dragons to be released: Saturday, July 12.

Trail co-ordinator Mike Marshall said: “There’s lots to do between now and then but we would love to have them in place by that weekend. We’ll keep dragon fans posted through the County Gazette and the Facebook site.”

Meanwhile Artists are hard at work painting designs chosen as part of the County Gazette’s design competition on to the dragons and several designers have received good news in the last couple of weeks about their artwork being chosen.

Among them is nine-year-old Jasmine Timms, of Bishop Henderson Primary School, in Taunton, who watched - and helped - artist Johnny Leach transfer her Windy design to a dragon at the Brewhouse Theatre on Sunday.

Proud mum Nicki said: “It was great to see the design take shape - Jas had a lovely time and enjoyed painting part of it!”

Look out for more live art painting sessions – with the next provisionally arranged for June 21 at the Brewhouse Theatre - keep reading for updates.
