MORE than 150 people celebrated the opening of Lydeard St Lawrence Cricket Club’s new facilities.
Club members and guests enjoyed a barbeque followed by strawberries and cream.
Chairman Phil Greenway explained how a Sport England grant of £48,000 had been secured, and how it had been spent on an artificial wicket and a refurbishment of the pavilion, with a new roof, side cladding, extended changing facilities with showers and inside toilets and an extended veranda to the front.
President Francis Darlow cut the ribbon to declare the facilities open.
The club thanked Ben Mack for organising Friday's event, Sue Greenway for the catering and all other helpers. The first team are top of division two of the West Somerset League and the second team are performing strongly.
