A CARE home which specialises in helping people with dementia has been given the thumbs-up by health bosses.
Staff and residents at Oaktree Court in Wellington are all smiles after an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found standards are being met in all five key areas.
General manager Andy Kirby thanked his team for their hard work over the last few months and said: “This is a great result that underlines the commitment we have shown to raising our standards to the highest possible level.
“All the staff have taken time during their day to ensure our residents are cared for to the highest standard, spend time with clients to ensure they feel loved and cherished, and make sure they enjoy every day to the full.”
The routine inspection reviews how staff care for people and protect them from harm and how they provide treatment and support and treat residents with respect.
The quality of management, as well as the staffing structure, are also reviewed during the inspection.
In the report released this month, inspectors highlighted the comfort of residents, who said they felt safe and were treated well by staff.
They praised the attitude of staff, noting they treat “each individual with dignity and respect,” and speak to people in a “friendly and caring manner.”
Staff were also complimented on the way they support residents to make their own “daily living choices and to be as independent as they were able to be.”
Andy, who has been manager at the home since April, said: “The inspections are nerve-racking. They are very thorough and the inspectors really know their stuff. We are very proud of the outcome.”
Oaktree Court, in Middle Green Road, cares for people over 65 with dementia, physical disabilities, disorders or those who require treatment for a disease.
