THE new headmaster of Wellington School says he is looking forward to taking over a “thriving” school.
Henry Price will take over the reins from outgoing head Martin Reader in September, when he makes the move from Rugby in Warwickshire.
The duo joined forces with Adam Gibson, headmaster of Wellington Junior School, to welcome new pupils and parents.
Youngsters also took part in activities, games and met fellow students.
Mr Price said: “I feel very fortunate to be inheriting a thriving school. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the new pupils and parents and am looking forward to doing all I can to ensure the continued success of the school in the years ahead.
“My family and I are really looking forward to joining the Wellington community.”
Next year, the sixth form will be the biggest it has been for the past eight years and there is a waiting list for boarding.
Two new classes are also being created in the junior school to cope with demand.
Headmaster Mr Reader, who will moving to Cranleigh School in September said: “The school has a real buzz about it at the moment. I am confident that I am handing over a strong school to an inspiring new headmaster.”
