ENGLAND’S dreams of winning the World Cup might be over again for another four years but that didn’t stop Watchet getting into the spirit of carnival.

Contains Art held a ‘Rio de Marina’ fun day on Saturday with a free carnival costume making workshop and plenty of Latin music.

Event organiser Jess Prendergrast said: “England being out of the World Cup did nothing to dampen the spirits of the people of Watchet who headed down to the East Quay for an afternoon of Latin tunes, Brazilian barbecue and carnival costume-making at Contains Art.

“Local band Bossa Beleza got the atmosphere going and artists Leah Hislop and Alison Jacobs helped families to create fabulous costumes ready for Watchet carnival using materials from the deconstruction of Leah’s paper installation from her studio.

“Great fun was had by all.”
