IAN Liddell-Grainger, MP for West Somerset paid a visit to Foxes Academy on Monday (June 30).

He was following up the learner's recent campaign to highlight the need for educational equality for young people with a learning difficulty or disability, which took place at the Houses of Parliaments.

The learners showed him around the hotel and spoke to him about the benefits of attending a specialist college.

They also share their hopes of finding work and living independently once they leave the Academy.

Leaner Dany Warren talked to Mr Liddell-Grainger about the issues she had when trying to get funding for Foxes.

He explained how the new Children's and Families Act which will become law in September should make it easier for young people to attend the right college for them.

Mr Liddell-Grainger asked the students to write letters to him about their campaign and promised to keep in touch with them.

Senior manager Kerry McCarthy said: “The learners were proud to show Ian Liddell-Grainger around Foxes Hotel. His visit is a positive development in our campaign.

“We were all encouraged by his genuine interest and his concern that young people with disabilities continue to access specialist education in order to achieve positive outcomes.”
