FOUR colleagues from a Bishops Lydeard engineering firm cycled, hiked and canoed their way through the stunning Brecon Beacons during a gruelling charity challenge on Saturday.
Jon Boulton, Mike Crarer, Dave Chaffey and Steven Boulton, from SCM Handling, completed the Race the Sun event in a respectable time of 9 hours 47 minutes, finishing 43rd out of 88 teams taking part.
The event included a 47-mile cycle ride, an eight-mile hike up and down the notorious Pen-y-Fan and a three-mile canoe around Pontsticill reservoir.
The SCM Handling team’s efforts have raised an impressive £2,185 for Action Medical Research.
“It was a fantastic team effort by all the guys in what was a really tough event”, said managing director Jon Boulton.
Mr Boulton thanked friends, family members and companies that work with SCM Handling for their donations, adding: “To contribute in excess of £2000 to such a worthy cause is a great feeling and I am very proud of what we achieved.”
