THE next couple of weekends will see two fantastic events taking place in the Barrs Lane Playing Fields in Charmouth starting with the ever popular ‘Party in the Park’ on Saturday 26 July followed by the Charmouth Fayre on Sunday 3 August.

Both events will be well sign posted and easily reached from the centre of the village.

Gates for the Party in the Park on Saturday 26 July open at 7pm with music and entertainment from around 8pm onwards featuring The Twerzels, a Wurzels tribute band, formed in the late 1970s in the Mendips. These west country heroes have had more than their fair share of adventures during their musical endeavours over the past thirty odd years bringing their raucous good time music to festivals far and wide both locally and internationally.

There’ll be a bar for the over 18s and the now world famous ‘Fat Dads BBQ’ all leading up to a firework display around 10:30pm. Entry is just £2 for adults payable at the playing field gate in Barrs Lane by the side of the Post Office in Charmouth.

The Charmouth Fayre on Sunday 3 August runs from 2pm until 4:30pm followed by music, a bar and BBQ until 6:30pm and is free to enter. In addition to fun events for all of the family, Charmouth will host its own ‘Antiques Road Show’, where experienced professionals from Lyme Bay and Windsor Auctions will appraise and value your treasures for just for £1 per item.

There will be a program of shows throughout the afternoon with something for everyone including the Old Romsey Cadets Band, Majorettes, donkey rides, Punch and Judy and Magic shows. There will also be many traditional attractions like tombola, an ‘Aunt Sally’, throw the ‘Wellie’, the stocks, hay sheaf tossing and Archery competitions; plus a wide variety of stalls selling locally sourced produce, crafts and other goods. The Fayre will be followed from 4:30pm until 6.30pm with live music, a BBQ and bar.
