PHOTOGRAPHERS are being given the chance to showcase an outstanding image of the Heart of Devon to help promote the area ahead of Rugby World Cup 2015 coming to Exeter.

The Heart of Devon Tourism Partnership has launched a competition to find images this summer that capture the uniqueness of the ‘Heart of Devon’ be it a magical moment, special event or festival, famous landmark, landscape or hidden piece of Exeter or the surrounding coast and countryside.

The winning image will be used as part of a Rugby World Cup 2015 tourism promotional campaign for the region. The winner will also receive a £100 voucher for photography equipment and a half-day session working alongside a professional photographer, learning techniques and gaining insight into the job.

The competition, running on Twitter @HeartofDevon and Instagram using the hashtag #myhodmoment invites people to capture and share special moments from summer events and festivals taking place in Exeter, East Devon, Mid Devon and Teignbridge..

Derek Philips, chairman of the Heart of Devon Tourism Partnership, said: "The Heart of Devon has so many facets, landscapes, moods and imagery - it's what draws people to our beautiful county time and time again.

We are encouraging people to capture a moment and share that with us. Living here, or coming on holiday, we all have parts of Exeter, and villages, towns, beaches and countryside that we love. It's that Heart or Devon we want to see."

The half day photoshoot is with Devon based professional photographer Tony Cobley and a £100 voucher is for purchases at the Devon Camera Centre in Exeter.

The competition is open for entries until Monday 1 September 2014. More information and terms and conditions at www.heartofdevon.com/story
