REPORTS are coming in of horrendous tailbacks on the A358 into Taunton this morning, Thursday, July 31.

David Cameron, from Fivehead, said at 11am a slow-moving two- to three-mile queue has developed over the past two hours as far back as Thornfalcon.

Traffic into Taunton from M5 on Tonedale has been bad all morning
A358 through Henlade not too bad at the moment
May have something to do with A3259 road through Monkton Heathfield being closed at Maidenbrook

If so this is closed for 3 weeks, more chaos for Taunton!
I tried to get into Taunton at 10am gave up turned round at Sainsburys and came back

Both entering and leaving Taunton this past week has seen horrendous tail backs along the Toneway, though most unusually, once you get past Sainsbury's outbound then it's been pretty clear

This isn't really news, traffic has been bad in Taunton for a long time now due to roadworks and water works. Bridgwater Road has also been backed up this week. The A3259 through Monkton is closed as is part of Hyde Lane in Creech St Michael and also the country road between Henlade and Haydon. It will be even worse next week when they are starting more roadworks in Creech St Michael which will affect the main road through Creech. Yes I am sure these works need to be carried out, however stop closing all these roads at the same time! I'm presuming that the person in charge of road closures doesn't have to drive through Taunton on a daily basis.

So effectively there is only one way into Taunton from this side of M5,
Along Tonedale and thats why it has been blocked with traffic all week
This is a recipe for disaster!
Flower show tomorrow!
The only other way is through the bus lane at Blackbrook
Surprised the ambulances don't go this way instead of trying to get through traffic on Tonedale

tauntons economy is dying to the fact the traffic is horrendous. nobody wants to pop to the places of interest as of this. they wont sort it. the council are to stingy cutting the grass so we have no hope for this. bristol is just as quick to get to as regards to how long it takes get across town.

Tauntons traffic gets worse by the day and getting back in the evening is just a joke. New road being built, wrong place, wait till it opens, another jam and no doubt another batch of traffic lights along it.
Town development. More housing, with narrow roads and not enough parking.

Exactly snapper, Exeter is far, far easier to get into and much nicer once you are there. I know it's a city etc but Taunton, you can do far better!

And if that is not bad enough they also plan to close the road through Creech St Michael for 2 weeks! Hyde Lane is already closed

So more traffic will try to get through Ruishton to the traffic lights opposite the Park and Ride?

Ruishton Lane is so narrow and very difficult to get through at the best of times without any extra traffic

We need to petition Harvey Siggs in charge of Roads and Transport at SCC
