THE people of Exmoor will be celebrating the bogs, rivers and wildlife of the area with a packed Bogtastic Festival on August 16-17.

Simonsbath House Hotel will be hosting Exmoor’s Wild Night, where food and wildlife themed ales will accompany campfires, storytelling and stargazing on August 16 from 7.30pm and 10pm.

There will be a wealth of activities taking place in two locations – Sawmill and Blackpitts – in Simonsbath on August 17 between 10am and 3pm, where there will be bogtastacle courses, bog safaris, raffles and face painting.

There will be some undercover stalls and an opportunity to view one of the remaining operational waterpowered sawmills and guided tours of ‘the last Parish in England’.

David Rolls, from the Heart of Exmoor, said: “Bogtastic is a festival of fun and learning about Exmoor’s amazing bogs, wildlife and heritage.

“We are extremely grateful to all our event sponsors, especially Exmoor National Park, South West Water and the Heritage Lottery Fund.”
