A TOTAL of 20 children have taken part in a week’s survival course for those who had reached the ASA Stage Five level of swimming competence at King’s College swimming pool, Taunton.
The course was run by Mary-Jo Shepherd, a nationally-qualified ASA Level 2 coach, who was impressed with how hard the children worked and the standard they reached.
The children worked over five consecutive mornings to a programme which involved swimming fully clothed and also learned a basic rescue from water on to the land and how to deal with the trauma.
